25 ft. Stanly — A "high energy, left-of-center" rock and roll band that plays "quirky, upbeat alterna-pop"
Here's the lead singer's home page.

The 303s - "Electronics, rock, ephemera, and mood make this ingenious duo a compelling combination of transformers evoking surreal emotional traversing. Having learned most of their musical saavy together, Ingrid Dahl and Parixit Davé create reverb-eclectic sounds that resonate through their on-looking, ultra-engaged audience. The 303s music and live performances overflow with powerful yet sweet aural dialogues that can't hide Ingrid and Parixit's shared attractions to anger, love, inquiry, and death. Each song is a discovery, as though music has become their only means of communicating."

About Zoe"If About Zoe were served at a bar, they would be two parts Rockstar energy drink, one part Jagermeister, and a splash of Grand Marnier - energetic music with kick and class. Adam McIntyre and the Pinks"You might get the feeling that even if they didn't play music, Adam & The Pinks would still be driving around in a van, chasing the dream and saving rock and roll, one dirty intention at a time. Adam McIntyre and Jennifer Hicks have been in some of the Southeast's most infamous bands (Les Honky More Tonkies, The Cogburns) while Jim was found beating on garbage cans in the back alley of a Mississippi Blues bar. The three characters are practiced in the art of showmanship and monsters on their instruments. Adam and The Pinks are currently in the studio recording Atlanta's nod to what might happen if Jack White had produced Led Zeppelin, and on stage are flaunting McIntyre's back catalogue of clever, Knack-esque stompers - great songs played with the proper sex and violence."

Alaska The TigerAlaska the Tiger — "Taking its cues from the darker recesses of indie rock's canon, a hint of shoegaze and several generations of post-punk, Columbia's Alaska the Tiger juxtaposes its staccato rhythms and melodic bass leads with a terse, double vocal attack. The sound is nervous and agitated with down-stroked guitars and consistent, driving percussion. The controlled noise of the outstanding "Honey Badger" showcases the band's oblique lyrics and anxious energy with unsurprising aplomb." Eric Greenwood, Free Times

Lazy writers often say that a band "plays from the heart;" An Epic at Best gives that phrase new meaning. They play their sad, uncertain songs with an exuberance that renders them more human."

Angels On Acid will be releasing their first full length album "Eyes Behind The Curtain" in May of 2007. McWilliams was in Courage Riley with Weathersby and Corley, so he recruited his former bandmates before Baumer began playing concerts last May. Bolt — "Watching Bolt play is like watching a musical interpretation of an action movie. You're spared the mundane car chases and love stories. What you do get is spiraling cliffhanger music that never lets you jump off the cliff. You're brought to the edge, told to lean over, and right before you take the plunge, the Bungee cord snaps you back to do the tango again. And again. Maybe that's why the debut album was titled "Circadian Rhythm," which means a daily cycle based on 24-hour intervals. The music is quite dizzying, but also very fun to listen to... If you were going to rent an Arnold Schwarzenegger movie tonight, scrap your plans. Go to www.columbiatunes.com and listen to some Bolt tunes. For none of these reasons, Liesl started to play geetar. She picked up the instrument, mistaking it for a missing allen wrench. She was unable to put it down as someone had hexed, enchanted, cursed, or poxed it. As such, the best plan involved learning to bang out a few chords. Henceforth, Liesl + guitar travel to many places... except the jungle. Do they make sense together? Do they confuse and delight? Do they mystify, intrigue, and broast? Is it folk? Is it indie? Is it gonzo? These and other decisions are entirely up to you, the audience, casual listener and/or victim. Char, Phillip and I combined with former members of the metal band Long Strange Daze to create the most powerful sound you've ever heard. We replaced Char's guitar with two fierce guitarists and replaced my bass with the funkiest white guy I've heard on bass since Flea and Les, no lie. And the new Maxx Power, BT, well... he truly is maximum power, ya'll. This frees Char and me up to sing and FRONT- and we have a killer show! Los PerdidosLos Perdidos - "Remember the typical 'It has a good beat and I can dance to it' comment in American Bandstand's Rate-A-Record feature? It might be a cliché, but it fits the music of Los Perdidos perfectly. The trio's sound is classic '60s garage-slash-surf rock, wholly instrumental rock 'n' roll boiled down to the bare necessities of melody and rhythm. As our local representative in the surf music tradition, Los Perdidos has been only intermittently active in recent years, with a compilation of recordings released online in 2005. Regardless of how often they play, one is assured of two things about a Los Perdidos show - it will have a good beat, and you will be able to dance to it." K. Oliver Free Times

Snagglepuss
"The veritable smorgasboard of post-modern flavor-packs known as Snagglepuss has been streaking across the Milky Way of Rock-and-Roll since the genesis of summertime, 1999. The group's two-fold mission: to rock, and to remain unfettered and free of rules and expectations in the process. Upon its inception, creation was the petrol that drove the Snagglepuss emotion, and nothing - not even a concern over intrumental prowess - stood in Snagglepuss's way. Rock - punk, classic, and art - would meet head to head with freeform jazz, outsider art, Z-grade cinema, and cabaret style flamboyance, resulting in a sound and performance that is as loud a statement of personal liberty as has been heard and seen since the 18th century. And what of those performances, even in the early years of Snagglepuss? Raw experimentation met general goodness of spirit, resulting in a happy mess that earned Snagglepuss the distinction of being Creative Loafing's band of the year in 2001."

They write their own songs, record in New York City with producer Jeff Curtin (whose credits include Vampire Weekend's debut), and talk convincingly about female empowerment, music history, and egalitarian ideals of performance and business. And, in practice, they are rockers. In the backyard of their shared suburban house which is littered with musical instruments and cast-off whiskey bottles, they stick wires in the spindle holes of old LPs, hang them from the magnolia tree, and shoot them with BB guns. White RhinoThe relatively newly formed quintet White Rhino is quickly turning heads around the Charleston music scene with its moving and heartfelt brand of folk, country and indie. With most of its members being recent transplants, White Rhino was formed through newspaper ads and chance encounters. But the band's distinct solidarity doesn't really offer a hint as to the circumstances of its formation. If The Decemberists took on a more Americana style, perhaps the band's name would be White Rhino.

Wild Sweet Orange"Birmingham's Wild Sweet Orange plays gritty rock and contemplative ballads that both tell a story and evoke mystery. The melodies can transport you from a dark club, back to the house in which you grew up." Their song Land of No Return was played behind a dramatic argument on Greys Anatomy.

Winslow Willard - "Athens Georgia's Winslow Willard catches songs. He's a songcatcher. When a quality songcatcher sits down with his instrument and begins to fish, he taps into a mysterious and powerful universal field. This field somehow "tunes in" to the song as if the song had always been "out there" humming and drumming - it was just waiting for the right time and the right catcher to catch it. Songcatchers tend to have longer shelf lives than the average radio churn 'em and burn 'em phenomenon. Neil Young, Beck, Van Morrison, Tom Waits - these are all songcatchers. This is the kind of path Winslow will weave - a prolific stash of albums filled with tasty songcatches - a songcatcher's songcatcher."

Year Long Disaster - "Modifying, in their own right, the original blues models of The Masters; Cream, Free, ZZ Top, Black Sabbath, and Led Zeppelin among others, Year Long Disaster are more apt to play shuffles as the base backbeat and to define choruses as whichever dynamic moment of the song appeals as most memorable. This moment may manifest itself in a riff, a recurring vocal line, or in a sonic assault stemming from sheer energy."

The Young Sons"As even-keeled harmonies swoop into effervescent choruses and swooning bridges, The Young Sons' most impressive characteristic - the effortlessness that permeates their just-right jangle pop - is clear. Not surprising for a band of veterans who count among them members of Bellglide and The Talk. Their full-length debut, Hearts, Inc. is on the horizon, and if it's as consistently good as the songs posted online, we're in for a treat." - Shuffle Magazine, August, 2008

Yukos The Crude Yukos the Crude is an experimental rock band that spans a wide range of genres: lounge, ska, metal, prog, and oldies, to name a few. Many of their songs are satirical in nature or downright bizarre. Yukos has been compared numerous times with bands like Ween, They Might Be Giants, and the Flaming Lips. Their stage presence is energetic and usually just as zany as their songs.

ZelazowaPhilly-based foursome Zelazowa has a sound that acts as a virtual grab-bag of Modern Rock influences. On the group's debut full-length, Rest Easy, there is little restful or easy, as the band marches through the history of '90s and '00s Rock & Roll, touching on dirging Grunge, soaring AltRock, dynamic Punk and stoner-friendly Hard Rock, meshing it all together with the intensity of a Catholic heart surgeon working on the Pope's ticker.
